NeoOffice Calc: editing text... SO simple...??

This is SO basic... but is driving me nuts! - Pls help!

My spreadsheet has upwards of 4000 lines - yet this most basic thing still catches me out!!

I'm entering text into a cell in NeoOffice 3.2.1 Calc (spreadsheet).

VERY often I spot a typo, or I want to do some re-wording, earlier on in the text block, but *BEFORE I leave that cell*.

I don't want to delete text, and I don't want to go to mouse or trackpad, so I press the left arrow-key.

HALF the time, this takes the cursor back into the text, just as I want. (In other words, the cell is still in edit mode.)

THE OTHER HALF of the time, left arrow-key takes the focus to the next cell left - NOT what I wanted!

1) is there actually some difference here that I'm not spotting to explain the apparent different behaviours?

And hence:

2) Is there some key-press or combination to KEEP the cell in EDIT mode, and thus keep the cursor in the cell? - until I press Enter.

Would be SO grateful for the answer to this.

Long time since I played with NeoOffice but my guess is that if the cell contents haven't changed since the cell had the focus then a 'left arrow' will move to the adjacent cell.

I can only suggest you try and fool the program by doing a 'select all' before the 'left arrow' key. If my logic is correct the first select all (Cntl-A) should select all the cells content thus resetting the focus problem. Beware that I guess two consecutive Cntl-A will select all the spreadsheet items.

Sorry this is only a guess as I no longer have the program installed.
