PDF as default printer?

Hi all,

First post, and I'm a relatively new Mac user. It's good to see lots of questions about PDF files but I have two I haven't seen yet.

Is there a way to make PDF your default printer in a Mac? Been looking around for a solution as I print to PDF all day long.

Second question: I'm able to print without a problem on MY computer, but have a colleague with an older Mac and can not print to PDF on hers. She does not have the PDF drop down menu in the left hand corner of the PRINT dialog box. She has Adobe Professional 8.0 installed, as do I. Making PDF the default printer will solve her problem.

Thanks for any help.

Lyn

I don't think you can set pdf as default printer in a direct way. You can see one way to do it via CUPS here.

Other paths could include using Applescript and either activating the script through a shortcut (I still like quicksilver for stuff like this) or making a droplet.

If you let us know what OS the older computer is running, I can probably help out there.
