Lost My admin password

I need help. I'm using my daughter's iMac and she can't remember the admin password so I can't download any programs. What can I do

You'll have to boot using the original OS install disk that came with the Mac, at the first screen that pops up ignore the centre splash and go to the drop down menus where you'll find a procedure to reset the master password. Then just reboot as normal.

You are NOT reinstalling the OS. Ignore the screen and go to the menus. There you will find the reset password selection

TIP: Get a small diary book to write down your user names, passwords and serial numbers / etc for future reference. It beats scratching you head, trying to remember a password
