Graphics Tablet - What One Should I Go For?

I've been looking at a couple of graphics tablets but I'm not really sure if they're any good or which one to go for.

I have a budget of up to £80 although ideally I would like to pay as little as possible!

I've been looking at a couple from Wacom that are part of their Bamboo range, one costs around £50 and the other £80 - the only difference I can see is that one will let you touch it like you would a scratch pad and the cheaper one only works with the pen.

What is the optimal useable area on a tablet? Mose seem to be around 6 x 4 inches which I'm not sure if it's going to be useable enough or not.

I use an Intuos 3 which is a 9x12 that I like alot. I started with a 4x6 and could never adjust to the scaling difference (Note I am not an artist, or designer). Although I could scale the pad to either application window size or screen size I struggled with scaling issue (by this I mean making a 1/4" mark on the pad resulting in an 1 1/2" mark on the photograph). Had I stuck with it I think I would have gotten use to it.

I assume two tablets you are referring to are the touch, and the Pen. Which to get depends on you uses though I would likely stick with the Pen.

I still haven't taken the plunge yet!

The 2 Wacom ones I saw both came with pens.

I have had a look at the Intuos 3 and at around £300 it is way out of my £80 budget!

I've just spotted the Genius G-Pen F509 which is bigger than the Wacom ones that are a similar price.

Anyone any thoughts on this one?
