Malware Warning

Intego issued a malware warning for a program call MacGuard. Appears to be a program that allows hijacking of your computer.

Exclamation Timely !!

Wow, you guys are good. JUST NOW (5 min ago)They "ran a scan" on my computer before I could stop them, and almost had me convinced (not being sophisticated, or an IT type).

I have an IMAC running OSX, and I got redirected to a site with vaguely familiar color scheme. It gave me a result mentioning 3 problems, including one "critical".
What stopped me (duh) is that it claimed to be from Windows & mentioned DOS (???).
I finally had to force quit Firefox to get out of the loop.
Is there anything on my computer I should do now, to get clean (I feel dirty).

To my knowledge there is no way this could have "infected" your Mac. You should be fine. Good catch. Too often folks are fooled by junk like this and end up inadvertently installing malware or spending unnecessary cash (or both). If you'd like to play it safe, download and install ClamX AV and scan your computer for viruses. Like I said, you should be fine. It's hard to accidentally infect a Mac.

Whew! Scared me for a moment. I have MacScan (names are similar) and have been using it for a few months. At first it rooted out some spies but lately hasn't found anything.

Anyhow, thanks for the warning!
