ibook reformate problem

I installed Jaguar on my ibook and now it wont load up. The first to screens load and then it just goes blue. I got to single person mode but i have no idea how to reformate from this point. i just wanna know how to start my harddrive over. thanks

Insert the Jaguar CD, reboot and hold down the 'c' key. You can use Disk Utility to reformat and then reinstall Jaguar.

do i need the jagaur install cd or upgrade cd?

I tried doing that and it doesnt seem to work. THe first load screen with the apple in grey and the little spindle thing at the bottem loads but it takes an extremly long time like 10 or 15 minutes...then it goes to the dialouge load up screen and gets almost all the way though that but stops at the apache web server load...then it goes to a blue screen that hsould be my backbround but my icons never load...like it gets stuck...i dont know what to do.

Possibly your system needs a firmware update. Boot from the Mac OS 9 CD, reformat your drive and install OS 9. If that works download the firmware update for your machine:

Make sure your data is backed up before reformatting...
