Red face New MAC User

After many years of using a PC, I recently purchased an iMac to see what all the buzz was about... the curiosity killed me.

While I have a bit to learn or at least a MAC way of doing things, I have been downloading a lot of applications to get the tools I typically use on PC on.

On a PC, there is space place to go to to uninstall software. Does such exist on a MAC? If not, how does one go about uninstalling software on a MAC?

Thanks for your time in answering this novice question.

ALSO - is there a good resource to go to to take online courses, tutorials or what not on using a MAC and getting the most out of it.

No need for uninstallers on the Mac. Just drag what you don't want to the Trash. Applications are usually self-contained except for a single plist file left in your Preferences folder. In the case that a program scatters its support files in other places, it usually comes with an uninstaller of some sort.

The Help menu in your menubar can be pretty useful when you're looking for a particular function. If you want something with more substance, David Pogue's Missing Manual series is known to be extremely helpful.

Another source of information is this link on Apple's support page. Several people I have helped switch have said it answered many of their questions. In particular in the Welcome to Mac section, there is a subsection "On my PC I did this ..." which explains the Mac equivalent.
