Learning the Mac

Hello from a (soon to be) mac user.
For years I have done graphics and photo stuff on a old HP, recently my sister- in-law informed me that she was getting a macbook and I asked what she planned to do with her old G4, she asked if I wanted it.Well of course I did the only thing that has kept me from having a Mac is $$$. My question then is what are some good books on Mac OS, and are there any online tutorials out there?
I also now understand the Mac/religion context, I feel that I am entering something that will allow for a fuller expression of my favorite art form, digital graphics.
Thank you all so much
metta

For learning the Mac, go to Apple's support page and look at the bottom left side of the page under the heading of solutions. The switch 101 is a good site, especially the Mac cheat sheet.

Also if you subscribe to .Mac (maybe if you don't, so try the link) there is the Learning Center. Once again the focus is on Apple's products but videos are good.

Regarding books it really depends on type of person you are and what programs/topics you want. For Photoshop, I personally prefer books by Scott Kelby as they are more about how to do some particular task, instead of how to use the program.

Thanks
I did google tutorials after posting (yeah, I should have done that first, but ...) .
Photo paint is the program I have the most fun with, the imagination is up to me, and i hope to find the mac helpfull in the completion of the process. I am also looking to move on from 2D to 3D and animation.
thanks again

Peachpit Press has a series of "Visual Quickstart Guides" for both Mac & PC programs - that's my gold standard when I'm looking for a way to quickly learn a program.

Think of them as the manual the software SHOULD have come with!
