Last week, as I clicked on a hyperlink in an Apple e-mail from mac.com, my window switched to the Internet Explorer IE 5.1.4, where it started to hunt for the Apple web page, then went off into never-never land.
Ever since, I lose connectivity with my computer (Apple Powerbook G3 400MHz, fortified with 256 MB extra RAM, running OS 9.2.2) whenever I try to use IE (everything goes to unescapable freeze). Thank goodness I had Netscape to switch to as a backup!
But, still, IE repeatedly freezes my computer to hard-reset

anytime I use it now. It's like it sits there & waits for a connection that never comes; but it's so self-centered and impolite that it won't release the mouse or keyboard.
I have tried trashing IE's preferences, also tried trashing the Internet Explorer folder and re-installing IE - no joy.
HELP: Does anyone know of a fix, short of erasing the whole hard disk & reloading everything?

Please, this is soooo annoying, not to mention dangerous to my other work (which gets lost when I must use the <Ctrl>-<Cmd>-<Power-off> reset).
