I'm not sure if I'm 100%, but a co-worker of mine is the same as you, and I believe that all you need id Toast sotware, because correct me if I'm wrong here guys, but Burning CD's hardware is already built in your model.

A combo drive lets you read and write CDs, and read DVDs. Since you don't have one, the only other way you could burn CDs is if have a plain CD-RW drive. To find out what kind of drive you have, open Apple System Profiler (in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder), click "Devices and Volumes," and see what it says about your optical drive. If you can't decipher it, post the info here and we'll figure out what kind of drive you have.

If you're running Mac OS 9 or X, and you do have a CD-RW drive, you may not even need Toast. 9 and X both have basic burning capabilities.

Mary: With a TiBook you used to be able to pick from a CD-RW drive, plain DVD drive, or a Combo Drive. Now all models have Combo Drives.

Milo: You should probably buy a FireWire CD burner if you don't have a drive built in, since it would be fairly hard to upgrade...

This is the only upgrade that exists. Definitely not worth the price.

You have DVD/CD drive (standard with original TiBooks, I believe). The only way to get an internal combo drive is from the link I posted above.
