OS Problems

Is there a place in this forum where one may ask about OS problems? I just got a new iMac G4, and it's giving me lots of grief -- unduly long launch time for the Classic OS (just an hour ago I had to shut off the machine after more than an hour of the Classic loading bar slowly creeping, and finally stopping before completing the load). Sometimes when trying to open a folder, the spinning color disk just spins and spins, apparently without anything happening. I really hate it when I have to do the dirty and pull the plug to get it to stop because the "force quit" doesn't do it.

What's happening?

Welcome to the Macintosh Users Group, Barbarossa.

"Apple Software" is the place for OS questions. I split this thread so your post will have it's own topic.

One thing you could try is defragmenting your hard drive. Have you done this before? Some files may be out of order, which can cause slowness when opening folders and possibly when starting Classic.
