Unhappy Adding tracks to a digital recording that is in "one piece"

There is a recording of Gilbert & Sullivan's Iolanthe available online, free, under Creative Commons. It can be downloaded as MP3 files or as OGG vorbis files. But the songs have been downloaded as continuous, no separation by tracks of individual songs.
I want to download the songs and burn them to a disk, but with tracks included. Someone at a Staples said I could do this using Garageband, but I don't know how to use Garageband, and my quick poking around doesn't show any way to use this.
The problem is: I don't have an iPod or iPhone or any other media device, just a computer. For a class presentation I want to play some, not all, of the songs through using a disk through the class sound system. Obviously if I could separate the songs while downloading them and burning them onto a disk, it would be very helpful.
Is this possible? And if so, how?

Sorry it's such a long question, but I find it very complicated to approach doing something simple.

You could chop it up in either GarageBand or Quicktime. It's not quite as straight forward as you'll likely want.

Essentially, you'll import the music into GB. Go ahead and cut the track where you want different songs.

Erase all other portions. Export track. (You might get away w highlighting>exporting the portion you want. I can't recall if that works in GB anymore or not).

You can then command-Z your way back to the tracks and repeat the process with other portions of the chopped up song.
