Those familiar with my Kernel Panic etc history on this 2.16 Ghz, 10/2006 intel core 2 duo 24" imac know how frustrating these past 9 months have been even in this forum
Tonight everything went perfectly fine with a new ram stick which is what the repair shop said was wrong. I even received an RMA for sending back the new one I'd purchased online.
Until ... I began to install world of warcraft. It was fine with the first set pre burning crusade, then would not allow me to put that in I received an error and there was the graphic stripe in the center of the top of the screen as if scratched out white with a knife. This was one of the early symptoms last Febuary.
I rebooted, next came a block about 3.5" square in the lower left sector of the screen with that section of the space background (famous for 10.5) flipped around geometrically. I ran disc first aid, everything was ok. Booted again and it wouldn't let me install. Booted in safe mode and I was able to proceed to last section of the install.
Then the screen went black with organized multicolored speckles as it had in the past except this time in very detailed white text was a center screen messages "Quartz Composer".
I rebooted again and got the dreaded blue screen back with a faded out curser again in the top left corner. My gosh what could be causing this? I looked on google a bit and saw that a Quartz Composer is a core and java related item probably used for multimedia. I'm a newb when it come to this area of tech topics.
Truthfully I'm about to part Baby out, just had the RMA send me a replacement stick for 1 GB of ram so that I could max it out thinking that all at last was at rest. Baby has been shut off for the night and maybe for a very long time.
*Sobs* :'-(
