Safari well worth a look

Not only did Apple unvail 2 beautiful machines at the Mac Expo in SF but released an Apple native browser as well. At the sound of this I whipped over to Apple.com to take a look. Granted, it is still in beta but what a great feature to add to your 10.2 OS. For best results get the 10.2.3 update but it will work in 10.2.2. In a word Safari is FAST, D@m^ fast. I had to resort to dial up while on the road. I logged on at 34600 and with IE and Chimera the difference was visible. More so on IE than with Chimera. Safari has the brushed metal look like on the address book and itunes. It matches visually and runs very smooth. Importing your IE bookmarks was effortless. Google has been added as the default search engine. There is built in popup stopper as well. This is a great step in the right direction. Go Apple

I am actually working on Safari right now, and it's working beautifully so far. I was on IE up until yesterday when I heard about Safari coming out. That 17" Powerbook makes me drool. I think that is going to be my next toy

Yea, that 17" PB is outstanding. I just got my first Mac this summer. If I even thought about buying another my wife would hit me with a chair. I am really impressed with the speed that Safari gives me even on a dial-up. The only thing that I find a bit annoying is that it doesn't remember its last position so I have to drag it back to where I want it. I shot this to the bug line. It is more of a nucience than a problem.

That's funny. It seems like I'm the only one who doesn't have the problem with windows not staying where you put them. I think it has something to do with the size- if the window fills up the whole screen, then it will jump.

Exactly the same problem I have. Also, Safari DOES NOT work with vB 3. It simply will not submit new posts, I get an endless spinning beach ball. (This board is running vB 2.2.9)

On my Mac, the speed difference between Chimera and Safari is so miniscule that I'd rather use Chimera, which has fewer annoyances.
