can I use Buffalo Airstation G54 w my Mac OSX?

Does anybody know how I set up a new Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 High Power Wireless BroadBand Router to work with my MacBook OSX 10.4.6? Buffalo only supports Windows so its start up CD doesn't work. But I have read that it's possible to set up compatibility manually between the two. So far I've tried pressing down the INIT button on the Router, switching power off and then powering up the Router and MacBook together. The MacBook recognised that a new Airstation was transmitting in its area (a series of numbers came up as its network ID) but I couldn't connect to it, not being able to set up passwords etc between the two. I'm a novice with broadband. Any help is welcome. Many thanks.
