Unhappy iPod freezing issues

i know in the past things have already been posted on this but
it's not really answering my question.

i have a fifth generation 80gb iPod that i got about a year ago.
it's in good condition and it's never had problems with freezing or
anything like that until very recently. in the last few weeks my iPod has
started to freeze while i am listening to it and the music will keep playing
but the screen freezes for about 10 seconds and then i can use it again,
but it usually goes very slow unless i reset it, which i do.

after i reset it it works for a while and then the freezing begins
once again. also the battery has not been lasting as long lately.
are the two things related? is there anything i can do to get my iPod to stop freezing completely? does this mean that i need a new one? ugh.

help please!

I don't recall ever seeing something like the problem you are describing. It maybe the battery as you think though. Try running the iPod complete dead. Then let it charge a good 12 hours. Note if it then freezes at a near full charge or only when the battery runs low. You might also try playing it plugged in to see if it ever freezes while connected to power.

Lastly by any chance have you switched computer platforms (Windows to Mac, or God forbid Mac to windows) that the iPod hooks up to? I have heard of some screwy thing occurring in instances of switchers but as indicated before not quite your issue.
